BIURET TEST
Biuret test is a test for proteins and amino acids in which the positive result ill be indicated by the formation of a violet color in the solution when dilute coper (II) sulfate is added to an alkaline solution of a peptide or a protein. At least two peptide bonds must be present, as the color changes only when peptide bonds can surround the Cu2+ ion. Thus amino acids and dipeptides do not give a positive result.
